LIVE BLOG: City Council Meeting for April 25, 2016

This may be the most contentious Guelph City Council of the year yet with a lot of potentially dramatic issues on the table. You can click here for the amended agenda from City Hall, and you can click here to read Politico's preview of tonight's meeting. Adam, thanks for your live blog of the council meetings. It's wonderful to be able to follow along. I was able to attend last night's meeting and , as I read through your twitter feed, it may be that my memory is not very good, but, I thought it was councillor Piper rather than Councillor Billings who challenged those around the horseshoe to admit who was leaking information to Guelph Speaks.

Thanks Anon. I will admit that I'm not infallible, but I do believe it was Billings. I'm 80 per cent sure.

Just watched the recording on Rogers and it was actually Councillor Downer.

Just watched the recording on Rogers and it was actually Councillor Downer. Apologies if this posts twice - I thought the first one didn't go up.

Would also like to add that the anonymous 'source' quoted on Guelph Speaks actually DID refer to confidential financial information in a specific manner. That disclosure, in my opinion, is far more of a breach of trust than the ones dealt with at last night's meeting.

I appreciate your efforts to provide information in a factual and non-biased manner, Adam ... wish all those trying to fill the void of our late local daily newspaper would do the same.

Thanks Sue. Sure can't fault Adam...I wouldn't have the ability to come close to posting the entire meeting. Now that you say it was Councillor Downer, I remember her saying that it seemed no one wanted to own up to it, because I was thinking that it wouldn't necessarily be one of the councillors. It could also be staff.
As much as I've been interested in all this, now that the air has been cleared, I truly hope they can all find a way to work together in peace. They each have something good to contribute to this city.

I appreciate the fact check. I agree with Anon though that as much as we'd like to lance the boil that is the double standard of Guelph Speaks, it's more important to get on with the work of the city. Then again, I'm just a friendly "blogger". ;-)
