GrassRoots Guelph Invites You For Burgers and Politics

Actual burgers may be different than pictured.

After a relatively quiet summer, GrassRoots Guelph is back on the stump, or maybe that's offering a stump, for local citizens to reach out to their politicians. In a few weeks time, the GRG will be hosting a "Meet the Candidates BBQ" at the Guelph Golf and Curling Club, and although they don't say who specifically will be, all registered candidates for all offices are invited to attend. Hopefully, there will be name tags.
Here's the GRG press release:
Guelph, August 28, 2014 – GrassRoots Guelph (GRG) will host its second major event on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the Guelph Golf and Curling Club (133 Woodlawn Road East). The public, GRG members/supporters and all registered Mayoral, City Council and School Board candidates are invited to attend.

GRG’s “Meet the Candidates BBQ” will allow residents to meet registered candidates in an informal setting, and also to meet other Guelphites who share their interest in municipal government and the future of our city. In the weeks following the BBQ, GRG plans to organize candidate debates in every ward. Guelph residents should keep checking the GRG website (www.grassrootsguelph.ca) for information about when and where the debates will be held.

Tickets for the BBQ are $20 per person if bought online and $25 at the door. They can be purchased through GRG’s homepage at www.grassrootsguelph.com or by calling 519-837-4010. Student tickets are $15 and are only available at the door.

Ticket prices do not include a donation to GRG because this event is not a fundraiser. However, ticket prices do include a raffle ticket for a door prize. People who bring donations to the Guelph Food Bank will be given an extra raffle ticket.
