Guelph Transit Expands to Match Expansion of GO Train Service

Starting Tuesday, GO Transit takes another step to offering all day, two-way commuter service from Toronto to Guelph by offering two additional trains in the morning and two in the afternoon. In order to keep up with that expanded early morning service, Guelph Transit will be expanding its own service with an earlier start time for its shuttle.

The pre-booked, co-fare eligible service will now begin at 4:30 am, which will allow it to arrive at Guelph Central Station on time for the first train at 5:48 am. The shuttle bus picks you up at any of the conventional transit stops, but you do have to book it in advanced by calling 519-822-1811 extension 2801; your reservation will be accepted any time Monday to Friday: 7 am to 9:45 pm, Saturdays from 8 am to 9:45 pm and Sundays 10 am to 6 pm.
“After GO Transit announced it was adding two additional trains in the morning and afternoon which stop in Guelph, we looked at how we can meet the needs and travel demands of our riders,” said Fred Gerrior, manager, transit operations, Guelph Transit in a press release. “The solution was easy; start service earlier. We’ve adjusted our morning service to connect with the second morning train, but rather than starting our entire service earlier to connect to the new 5:48 a.m. train, we have opted to introduce a shuttle service that riders pre-book. This will meet riders’ needs and we can keep costs low.”
As for those GO trains, they now start at 5:48 am, and will be followed by three additional trains at 6:28 am, 7:11 am, and 7:34 am respectively. Those trains will arrive at Union Station at 7:27 am, 7:55 am, 8:50 am, and 9:13 am. Reversely, the trains to Guelph will leave Union Station in the afternoon at 4:50 pm, 5:20 pm, 5:50 pm, and 6:50 pm respectively, and will arrive at Guelph Central Station at 6:13 pm, 6:58 pm, 7:28 pm, and 8:25 pm.
Of course, Guelph Transit would also like to remind you that peak service returns Tuesday, which is good news for all those bus riders who've had to ride this summer on a hope and a prayer that they'd get to where they're going on time. Happy Labour Day weekend.
