As many in Guelph try to cope with the sudden and tragic loss of Police Constable Jennifer Kovach early Thursday morning, official statements of sympathy and condolences keep coming in.

On behalf of the Guelph Provincial Progressive Conservative Association, I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to our friend, Councilor Gloria Kovach, and her family over the loss of Constable Jennifer Kovach.We all benefited from Jennifer's service and commitment to Guelph. Gloria's pride in her daughter was evident in the love and enthusiasm she exuded whenever she spoke about Jennifer.Words are inadequate to express our heartfelt empathy. Thursday, March 14th, 2013 will always be remembered as a tragic day for the Guelph community and we continue to mourn the on-duty death of Constable Kovach.Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Kovach family and the Guelph Police Service.As a community, it is important for us to pause to remember and celebrate the life of Constable Jennifer Kovach.The Kovach family has generously agreed to hold a public funeral.All the details for the funeral are not currently available. There are many decisions for the family to make during a very difficult time. The community will be supported in the planning of the funeral by provincial officials to ensure the very best is done in memory of Constable Kovach.As soon as further details are known, they will be communicated by the Guelph Police Service.Karen Farbridge | Mayor
