MANGEZ! Dine Safe Guide for February 1-15, 2017

Twice-monthly, Guelph Politico posts the latest inspection results from the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Unit inspection of local restaurants, hotels, cafes, grocery stores and other businesses that handle food. We call it "Mangez!", and this column highlights the latest inspections done by WDGPH, and the results they've posted.

  • Wash, rinse and sanitize equipment / utensils after each use or as often as necessary; Prepare and maintain sanitizing solutions according to manufacturer's instructions

Hasty Market, 59 Stevenson St N (2 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • Provide an easily readable, accurate indicating thermometer to check food storage temperatures
  • Remove all materials not associated with the daily operation of food premises

  • Ensure hand wash basin is only used for hand washing and is not obstructed in any way

  • Food contact surfaces cleaned and sanitized after each use and following any operations when contamination may have occurred

New York Fries, 435 Stone Rd W (1 Non-Critical Infraction)

  • Equipment is of sound and tight construction, in good repair and easily cleaned and sanitized: Ensure all surfaces are clean and maintained in good repair

Pizza Time, 20-500 Willow Rd (1 Non-Critical Infraction)

  • Remove all materials not associated with the daily operation of food premises

Sun's Convenience, 262 Eramosa Rd (1 Non-Critical Infraction)

  • Equip facility with paper towels in a dispenser / hot air dryer / continuous cloth roller; Equip facility with hot and cold running water

UofG - Brass Taps, 50 Stone Rd E (2 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • Ensure hand wash basin is only used for hand washing and is not obstructed in any way
  • Wash / rinse water clean, water temperature, timing cycles, sanitizer: Chlorine sanitizer concentration must be at least 100 parts per million at 24°C or greater for at least 45 seconds

*Critical infraction: A violation found during an inspection that could be a health hazard.
Ben Thanh Vietnamese Thai Restaurant, 383 Woodlawn Rd W (1 Critical, 2 Non-Critical)

  • Critical: Ensure hazardous food is reheated to the original cooking temperatures within 2 hours
  • Non-Critical: Ensure a sanitizing test kit is provided and used to verify the concentration of the sanitizing agent; Prepare and maintain sanitizing solutions according to manufacturer's instructions; Wash, rinse and sanitize equipment / utensils after each use or as often as necessary; Bleach and water solution must be prepared no less than once a day, or as often as necessary to maintain the required concentration
  • Non-Critical: Ventilation system requires thorough cleaning

Miijidaa Cafe & Bistro, 37 Quebec St (1 Critical)

  • Hazardous food is held at 4°C (40°F) or less: Ensure all hazardous foods are stored at 4°C (40°F) or less

Super Happy Garden Restaurant, 259 Grange Rd (1 Critical, 2 Non-Critical)

  • Critical: Toxic / poisonous substances (chemicals/pesticides) to be stored separately from food
  • Non-Critical: Store foods in containers that can be readily cleaned and sanitized; Provide multi-service food containers that may be readily cleaned and sanitized
  • Non-Critical: Wash, rinse and sanitize equipment / utensils after each use or as often as necessary; Bleach and water solution must be prepared no less than once a day, or as often as necessary to maintain the required concentration
